I like the SMF Links Directory product, so it's basically a bookmark for your forum of favorite sites?
What else is it use for?

Can be used to show related websites for example on SimpleMachines.org can be useful because there you can set links to SMFPacks.com, DzinerStudio, Blocweb and others, can be used as an advanced affiliates system, can be used as a resources system and well obviouslly as a Links Directory.

SMF Dynamic Directory is a multi-purpose mod with it you can easily setup various types of directories like articles, garage, tutorials, icons, glossary, places, countries and more so basically Links Directory and Downloads Directory are modified versions of the Dynamic Directory with specific features in the core like Upload Progress Bar, Estimated Download Time for Downloads and Website Preview and check if website exists on Links Directory. You can control membergroups per categories so basically you could create an affiliates category and select which membergroups can access to it also select per category which membergroups can add, auto-approve and modify links so you have full control over it.

Is it possible that members have the option to create their own categories like "Bookmark" or "My favorite sites" and is only viewable to them? Like a bookmark you know?

No, sorry that isn't integrated and won't be a part of the core, as usually with PHP it can be done but as a custom job not even as a plugin.

Btw there is already the Bookmarks feature (user bookmark links that are in the directory) they aren't private but could work
